Mars Logistics, one of the leading companies in the logistics industry, completed the year with a turnover of € 602,6 million in 2024 thanks to its investments, projects and people-oriented practices. Targeting 18% growth for 2025, the company continues its activities on the axis of sustainability, digitalization and operational excellence.
Garip Sahillioğlu, Chairman of Mars Logistics, made an assessment on the subject and said, “In 2024, we carried out important projects in many areas from technology to human resources, from sustainability to operational efficiency. In 2025, we aim to progress in a more environmentally friendly, more digital and more inclusive way as well as growth.”
In 2024, important steps were taken in road and rail freight
Mars Logistics made remarkable breakthroughs in rail freight in 2024. While Halkalı-Craiova Romania line was commissioned, important steps were taken in finished vehicle transportation and domestic train transportation operations. Sahillioğlu said, “We currently operate more than 60 train departures per week, and we aim for operational efficiency and environmental sustainability in rail freight. We plan to start trial operations for intra-European rail freight in 2025.”
Stating that Mars Logistics, which maintains its market leadership in road freight by performing 150 thousand trips in 2024, offers services in a wide geography from Morocco to Denmark with its self-owned fleet of 7,600 vehicles, Sahillioğlu continued his words as follows: “As an important indicator of the quality service we offer with our 36 years of experience, our belief in the power of continuous improvement and efficiency, we won first place in the ‘Freight Transportation and Logistics Services’ category at the Service Export Champions Awards.”
Strategic investments and operations are realized in line with the needs of customers
Stating that they continue to invest according to the demands and needs of customers, Sahillioğlu said, “We are planning to invest 65 million Euros worth of trailers and trucks for 2025. We have also reached the final stage for a 100 thousand square meter warehouse investment. We do not plan our investments in warehousing only as an area expansion, we aim to increase the number of warehouses within the scope of the Authorized Economic Operator Certificate (YYS) in 2025 and to continue our sustainable practices in our existing and new warehouses.”
Stating that they have also made significant progress in the domestic distribution network, Sahillioğlu said that they reached 1,500 daily trips in 2024 and added, “Our new warehouses in Samsun, Sakarya and İzmit have started operations. In 2025, we aim to open new warehouses in Erzurum, Kayseri and Van in addition to the warehouse we opened in Diyarbakır at the beginning of the year.”
“Environmentally friendly practices are at the top of our agenda”
Stating that energy management and environmentally friendly practices are one of the cornerstones of Mars Logistics' 2025 vision, Sahillioğlu said, “As Mars Logistics, we see energy management and environmentally friendly practices not only as a necessity but also as a part of our environmental responsibility; we continue our work with determination in line with our sustainable future goal.” and continued his words as follows: “With the solar energy system we commissioned in 2021, we have taken important steps to increase the use of renewable energy sources in our facilities and reduce our carbon footprint. In this context, we replaced the traditional fluorescent lighting inside the facility with energy-saving LED luminaires, and replaced the projection lighting in outdoor areas with modern solar lighting systems.”
Stating that they continue to gradually switch to environmentally friendly and highly efficient lithium-ion batteries instead of the existing water-type batteries in the work machines used in warehouse operations, Sahillioğlu said, “We have renewed more than 1,000 luminaires in the interiors with LED systems. Our new 15,000 m² warehouse, which we plan to open in Tuzla, was designed based on energy efficiency.”
Stating that sustainability is an increasingly important issue not only in the logistics sector but in all sectors and all over the world, Sahillioğlu said, “We offer carbon footprint reports for our customers who request them. The number of customers we regularly report increased by 36% compared to last year.”
Digital transformation continues
Stating that throughout 2024, projects that strengthen the digital infrastructure in the field of road transportation came to the forefront, Sahillioğlu said that among the targets for 2025 are digital tracking systems in international transportation and software transformation of domestic and international work order processes. Sahillioğlu stated that they have developed their own software and will continue to develop software that will increase operational efficiency in the coming periods.
“We are developing projects that will set an example for the sector”
Assuming a pioneering role in women's employment, Mars Logistics has brought 30 women truck drivers into the sector so far. Stating that they attach importance to women's employment in all departments of the company, Sahillioğlu stated that they provide employment by prioritizing gender equality in new employment and that they aim to increase this number in 2025. Mars continues to set an example for the sector in terms of gender equality.
Stating that they have adopted an approach that is sensitive to the environment, focuses on technology and puts people at the center, Sahillioğlu concluded his words as follows: “The future is not limited to transportation for us. We adopt a logistics approach that increases efficiency, protects resources, values its employees and establishes strong ties with the society. As Mars Logistics, we will carry this understanding even further in 2025.”
